These terms are the agreement between you and Nuits, the sole trader business registered in Finland (Business ID 3584845-8, VAT ID FI35848458) that operates Cringe. You accept them when you create an account, and by using the service. Cringe is satirical, but this agreement is real.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older, able to form a binding contract, and not barred from using the service under applicable law. You confirm you are 18 or older when you create an account. We do not verify identity documents, and we remove accounts we believe belong to minors.
What Cringe is
Cringe is a satirical dating app designed to work against easy matches. It rewrites your profile into blunt language, mixes disclosed AI profiles into the deck, and discourages you on purpose. Nothing here is professional, legal, medical, or relationship advice.
Cringe is a limited pilot. Admission may be by invitation or waitlist, the features may change, and we may pause or end the pilot. We do not promise that the service will be available at any particular time.
Your account
Keep your information accurate, keep your credentials safe, and do not share or sell your account. One account per person.
Acceptable use
Be decent to other people. Do not do the things listed in our community guidelines, which are part of these terms.
Your content
You own the content you create. You grant Cringe a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display it to operate the service, including running it through the honesty engine, the other AI features described on the AI and bots page, and moderation. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
AI and bots
Some profiles in the deck are AI, and we disclose this. They are unlabeled in the deck and in the likes you receive, and named the moment one matches you. See the AI and bots page for how this works and what those accounts can and cannot do.
The honest version box on our public site can be used without an account. What you paste must be yours to share, must not be about another identifiable person, and must follow the acceptable use rules above. The link it makes is public; do not paste anything you would not want read by anyone who holds it. We may refuse to rewrite text, limit how often the box is used, and switch the box off at any time.
No payment
Cringe+ collects no payment information and never charges you. There is no paid tier and no charge of any kind. Any message that suggests otherwise is not from us and is not true.
Safety and moderation
We moderate to keep the service safe and lawful. An automated safety model screens text and photos, and people review what it escalates and what you report. A human makes the call on serious actions. We may hide or remove content, warn you, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, the community guidelines, or the law.
If we restrict your content or your account, we send a statement of reasons to your account email: what we did, the facts we relied on, whether automated screening was involved, the rule or law it rests on, and how to contest it. To contest a decision, reply to that email or write to hi@becringe.org within six months, and a person who did not make the original decision will review it. Reports and contests are handled without undue delay and in good faith.
Anyone can report content they believe is illegal, with or without an account, by writing to hi@becringe.org with a link or description of the content and why it is illegal. We may report serious offences to the police and other competent authorities. hi@becringe.org is our single point of contact for users and for authorities. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation, as described in our child safety standards.
Termination
You can stop using Cringe and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or put others at risk, and we may end the pilot for everyone.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided as is, without warranties. We do not conduct criminal background checks on users and cannot guarantee anyone's conduct or identity. Meet people safely. To the extent the law allows, Cringe is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you use Cringe as a consumer, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence and can bring a claim in your local courts. In Finland, you can contact the Consumer Advisory Service for guidance and refer a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta) before going to court. We may update these terms and will post the new date at the top, and we will tell you in the app or by email about changes that matter. For questions, write to hi@becringe.org.
