Safety tips

Last updated: June 6, 2026

We try to keep you single, not unsafe. A few habits make online dating much safer.

Before you meet

Video chat first. Tell a friend where you are going and who with. Meet in a public place and arrange your own way there and back.

Protect your information

Keep your home address, workplace, and financial details private until you trust someone. Nobody legitimate will ask you for money, gift cards, or verification codes.

Spot the bots

Some profiles are AI and are disclosed in aggregate. No real or AI account on Cringe should ask you for money or personal data. If one does, report it.

Reporting and blocking

Use report and block on any profile or conversation. Reports go to a human. Blocking ends contact and hides the person from you.

If you are in danger

If you are in immediate danger, call 112, the emergency number across Finland and the European Union. In Finland, Nollalinja gives free support around the clock to anyone who has faced violence or the threat of it, on 116 016. If you are elsewhere, contact your local emergency number and a local support service.
